ともに28歳でこの世を去った「夭折の天才」として今も人気を誇るアーティスト Jean-Michel BasquiatとEgon Schieleのそれぞれの展覧会が、パリ・ブーローニュにあるFondation Louis Vuittonにて、2019年1月14日（月）まで開催中。

20世紀に活躍し、同年齢でこの世を去るまでに独自の芸術を追求したJean-Michel BasquiatとEgon Schiele。
同会場の別スペースで開催となる2つの展覧会では、BasquiatとSchieleのそれぞれの世界観を存分に堪能できる内容となっている。

アメリカ・ニューヨークで生まれたJean-Michel Basquiaは、詩やドローイング、絵画など、テキストとイメージを織り交ぜながら、歴史的背景や社会問題に対する批評を抽象的また具象的に描き、大きな注目を浴びた。

Basquiaの個展では、Fondation Louis Vuittonの4フロアを使い、これまで一般公開されたことのない作品を含め、1988年に生涯を閉じるまでのわずか8年間の活動期間で描かれた作品が公開。
世界中の美術館およびコレクターが所有する135点を通して、Basquiatの画家人生を考察する。

また、1981年から1982年にかけて制作された頭部を描いた作品や、BasquiaとAndy Warholのコラボレート作品など、ヨーロッパ初公開の作品も披露される。

一方のオーストリア人画家Egon Schieleは、、ウィーンを代表する画家Gustav Klimtに弟子入りをしたことをきっかけに、Vincent Willem van GoghやEdvard Munchの作品に出会い、強い影響を受けながらも独自の芸術を追求。
身体の歪みや内省、欲望と悲劇の表情に魅せられ、強烈な個性を持つ画風に加え、意図的に捻じ曲げられたポーズの人物画など、300点もの絵画と数百に及ぶドローイング作品を残した。

Schieleの個展では、パリで25年ぶりに開催される回顧展として、代表作のひとつである「ほおずきの実のある自画像」など、裸体画や肖像画を中心に焦点を当てた作品が展示される。


20世紀に活躍し、同年齢で夭逝した天才画家の2人。
