What does color “White” remind you of?

The color “White” is interesting because most people think there is no color.
In reality though, white light is made when ALL the colors in the spectrum are combined, and a white object is one that reflects all of them.

The brilliant contrast of white and black side by side doesn’t happen very often in nature, so it’s very interesting to find it.

When I was walking on a mountain in Iceland, I found myself surrounded by almost entirely white snow, and black rocks.
It creates a strange feeling to be immersed between only black and white landscape.
Some details become much more noticeable: Very subtle colors seem extremely pure.

Q. issue 10のテーマ「ホワイト」から何を連想しますか。

A. 「ホワイト」は面白い色です。何故なら、ほとんどの人はそこに色が存在しないと思っているから。
けれど実際は、白い光はスペクトル上のすべての色が１つにまとまった時に生まれるもの。
そして、白い物体はそのすべての色を反射しているものなのです。

白と黒が並んだ時の美しいコントラストは、なかなか自然に起こりません。
だからこそ、それを探すのはとても楽しいです。

ある日、私がアイルランドの山中を歩いていた時、雪と黒い岩でほとんど完全に囲まれていることに気がつきました。
些細なものが、より一層目を引く存在に変わる。
さりげない色合いが、もっとも純粋なものに感じるのです。
